Class 141 In a trouser waistband wherein the ends 3 of the front section A overlap the ends 5 of the rear section B above the side pockets, the ends 3, 5 are pulled in opposite directions by elastic strips 9, 7 respectively arranged on the inner face of the waistband, the end 3 and strip 9 being connected by a rigid bridge 11 which slides over the upper edge of the section B. The strip 7 may be stitched to the end 5 or detachably secured by a button and buttonhole 47, 46; similarly the strip 9 may be detachably secured to the bridge 11 by a button and buttonhole. The opposite ends of the strips 7, 9 may be secured to the waistband by stitching or by hooks 13 and eyelets 14 or other adjustable fasteners. In one form, the upper edge of the inner panel 22 of the pocket has a V-shaped slit, the parts on opposite sides of the slit being stitched to the front and rear sections A, B respectively at 43, 41, and the inner and outer panels of the pocket being stitched together at 49. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown) the V-slit is omitted and the forward part of the upper edge is gathered and secured to the elastic strip 7 by zig-zag stitching.
