Abstract

851,255. Shorts &c. STARK, S. Jan. 2, 1959 [Jan. 9, 1958], No. 189/59. Class 141 In reversible shorts or trunks with a built-in support 13, the main body portion consists of two alternative outer layers 15a, 15b secured together at the legs and waist and provided with an extension 16a beyond the waistband 17, the support 13 being secured to the free edge of the extension. In one form, Fig. 4, an elastic strip 18 is secured between the layers 15a, 15b by stitching 19 to form the waistband and a drawstring 25 is inserted in the tubular extension 16a. Alternatively, the extension may be in two parts 16c, Fig. 9, at the front and back only; in this case the waistband is extensible at the side portions only. In a modification, Fig. 7 (not shown), the main body portion is divided at the front to form a fly opening and a releasable waistband flap; the underlying portion of the support being cut away.
