[Class 141] To provide adjustability of the girth of trousers, the waist band is interrupted and carries a series of fastening elements, and a gusset or pleat is provided. The trousers are shown in Fig. 5 in the wearing position with the girth increased and exposing the gusset g to view. Fig. 2 shows the trousers from the inside and with the waistband unfastened. The gusset g is attached along one edge j to the back of the pocket e. The fastening elements may consist of a number of buttons m cooperating with a single buttonhole, or vice versa. Alternatively, press studs, hooks and eyes, or other fastenings may be employed. A buckle p may be provided for the end of the waistband. Specification 428,620 is referred to.
