Abstract

394,246. Shirts and like garments. ELTON, J. H., 175, Harehills Lane, Roundhay, Leeds. Dec. 9,1932, No. 35014. [Class 141.] A shirt, blouse, or pyjama coat, is provided with a plurality of elastic suspensory tabs permanently secured at the front and rear of the garment so as to depend therefrom at the waistline, and the tabs are provided with a series of button holes or the like so that a pair of trousers or the like may be adjustably secured to the garment. In the construction shown, the tabs 3 are formed integrally with, or secured to, the ends of strips 1 of material sewn to the outside of the shirt, and each tab comprises a double layer of fabric between which a strip of elastic fabric 4 is stitched, the outer or exposed portions of the strips 1 and the tabs 3 being formed from the same material as that of the shirt. In a modification, Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown), the strips 1 are secured to the interior of the shirt, and the tabs 3 are arranged to extend through slots formed in the shirt. In a further modification, the tabs 3 are stitched to the shirt and to a supporting waistband stitched inside the shirt. In a still further modification, in which the strips 1 are sewn to the outside of the shirt, two slots are provided in the shirt for each tab so that the portion of the shirt located between the pairs of slots overhangs the upper edge of the trousers.
