516,186. Fastenings ; spring hooks. TOMKINS, Ltd., F. H., and TOMKINS, H. July 11, 1938, No. 20424. [Classes 44 and 89 (ii)] A fastener for a dog lead comprises a pair of arms 6, 7 formed as sheet-metal pressings of channel section pivoted together by a pin 8 passed through the sides of the arms. A spring 9 surrounding the pin 8 bears against the longer limbs of the arms to maintain the shorter arms 6a, 7a, forming jaws, in abutment. The inclined ends 6c, 7c of the longer arms cross, the end 7c, which has a strengthening corrugation 7e, passing through and being slidably guided by a slot in the part 6c. The ends 6c, 7c are engaged in a link 10 which, under strain, exerts a cam action to tighten the closure of jaws 6a, 7a.
