Abstract

660,041. Pliers. FREITAG, F. Jan. 20, 1949, No. 1630/49. Class 61 (ii) Pliers of the kind used for tightening a strip or wire bond around a hose pipe or other object are provided with a pointed jaw 7 and slotted jaw 8, and have two confronting jaws 6 on the handles for bending the end of the tensioned bond around a connector plate. One end of the bond is passed through the aperture in the plate 11 and bent back to form a hook and the other end 12 after being passed through the same aperture is engaged in one of the slots 9 in the jaw 8, the jaw 7 being engaged with an abutment in the aperture. Squeezing together the handles 5 separates the jaws and tensions the bond which may be cut to the required length by means of the slots 10. The free end of the bond is then bent back under the plate 11 by the jaws 6 which are formed on the U-section handles 5 and have sharpened edges.
