[Also in Groups VI and XV] A special pair of forceps for use with a clip for sealing a tubular member has one jaw 13 with seatings 13c, 13d to retain the clip 10, in the open condition, ready for application to the tube. As the jaws are brought together, the arms of the clip close about the tube and the shorter arm passes under the hooked end 10d. Thereafter, owing to the curved shape of the jaws, the clip is bent to a diminishing radius so that, as the ends are now locked, the arms are pressed together with increasing force.
