Class 24 A sprocket chain is held rigid by a spring 1 carried by each link 51 so that each said link 51 is locked releasably to an adjacent. link 50. Thus, spring 1, carried by pin 52, has a projection 3 which passes through aperture 52 in the link 50 and has also a nose 4 which engages in a slot in the adjacent link 51 to hold the two links as a rigid entity. When the link 50 passes over the sprocket the end 2 of projection 3 is engaged by a sprocket tooth so as to move outwardly to free nose 4 from its slot to release said adjacent link 51. Alternatively, the spring may engage the two adjacent links to hold these links rigidly together.
