Abstract
515,149. Furniture adjustments. BRITISH UNITED SHOE MACHINERY CO., Ltd., and BARNETT, W. May 25, 1938, No. 15568. [Classes 52 (ii) and 52 (iii)] A supporting device such as a stool or table comprises a base frame having a bar of angle iron serving as a guide for sliding movement of a similar bar carrying the platform serving as the table &c. a pivoted latch being adapted to engage the sliding bar for locking purposes. The Z-shaped frame is formed of angle iron bars 3, 5 connected by cross bars 9, 11, 13. A V-shaped angle bar 15 is welded centrally between the bars 5 and carries in the angle a sliding angle iron bar 37 to which is attached the platform 41. A strip 19 embracing the bars 15, 37 is welded to the bar 13 and carries a pivot pin 29 bearing a latch member 32 whose outline conforms with the cross-section of the bars 15, 37. The latch member 32 is normally pressed by a spring 43 into frictional engagement with the bar 37 to prevent downwards movement but may be released by a lever 33, 35.
