Abstract
1,245,099. Folding stays. S. O. D. COTTON. 22 Aug., 1969 [4 Sept., 1968], No. 42091/68. Heading E1F. [Also an Division A4] A table has hinged end leaves 13, Fig. 3, independently pivotable from a vertical to a horizontal position, a link 14 being hinged at 16 to each respective leaf 13 and at 17 to a respective foot 15 pivoted about a fixed hinge 18. Each leaf 13 is retained horizontal by pin 28, Fig. 8, of hinge 17 engaging under hooks 33 on a plate 29 mounted on a fixed leg 12 or 11. The plate 29 has a limited sliding movement due to slots 31, and is biased downwardly by a spring 32 or gravity. The leaf 13 is released by pulling a sliding handle (20, Fig. 7) to raise plate 29 through wires 36. When leaf 13 is lowered link 14 and foot 15 pass through a vertical gap 23 (or 24) in leg 12 or 11. Castors may be provided on legs 11, 12 and parts 25 of feet 15.
