A folding table comprises a top in two parts 1, 2 hinged to a plate 3, legs 8 hinged to the top, rods 11 hinged to the lower ends of the legs and to the lower end of a guide rod 5 extending downwardly from the plate 3 and further rods 14 hinged to the lower ends of the legs and to a sleeve 12 which slides on the guide rod 5. A projection (18) on the sliding sleeve is engaged by a swinging hook 20 at the upper end of the guide rod when the table is unfolded. A further projection 25 on the lower end of one leg is engaged by a pivoted hook 23 on the end of the other leg when the table is folded.
