Abstract
493,626. Folding tables. MURRAY, L. E. R. April 16, 1937, No. 10874. [Classes 52 (iii) and 52 (v)] In a folding table of the kind in which a flap constituting the table top 10 is slidably and pivotally connected to supporting means, e.g., guides secured to a wall &c., the sole further support of the table consists of a member 9 having one end pivoted to the top 10 and its other end free. In folding, the member 9 is turned about the hinge 9a to lie against the top 10, and the latter is turned and slid downwardly in the guides 11. The top 10 carries transverse pins 14, Fig. 5, in a tube 15 secured to the top, and the outer ends of these pins pass through holes in blocks 13 sliding in the guides 11, and in the upper position also engage in holes 19 in the guides. A spring 17 presses the pins outwardly, but the latter may be retracted by triggers 18. In folded position the upper edge of the top 10 may be secured to a member 20 by a latch or other means. The latch 21, Fig. 7, may be arranged to be retracted when the leg 9 is in opened position by means of a fork member 26 attached to a hinged plate 23 carrying a button 22. The guide members in which the table slides may form part of two spaced blocks of drawers.
