[Class 52 (iii)] A combined table and container for a portable typewriter comprises a base 1 to which folding legs are hinged, and which serves to support the typewriter in operative position, a cover 2 which serves to contain the typewriter in inoperative or carrying position and a sub-base 6 hinged to the base 1 to form a cover for the compartment containing the folded legs or a shelf as shown in Fig. 5. One leg is hinged on the hinge 9 of the sub-base 6 and is provided with a strut 12 pivoted ori the other hinge 8 and with a folding strut 11 as shown. The other two legs 20, 21 are pivoted at 18 to hinge leaves 19 of the hinges 22 and struts 25, 26 are also pivoted to the legs 20, 21 and to leaves 28 of hinges 29 so placed as to cause the legs to splay outwardly as they are unfolded. Additional folding struts connect the legs to a plate 38 on the base 1. Each leg comprises three portions, all of channel section pivoted to one another at 27, 42 so as to fold within one another and are held when folded in position by latches 43, 51 which, when released, permit the leg portions to spring out partially, the latches 43, 51 serving also when the legs are extended to engage parts 52, 53 to lock the legs in extended positions. The portion 41 is provided with a foot 50.
