Abstract

550,793. Folding tables. HOWE FOLDING FURNITURE, Inc. Jan. 15, 1942, No. 628. Convention date, June 4, 1941. [Class 52 (iii)] A folding table (shown inverted) is provided with three diverging legs 10, 11, 23, the legs 10, 11 being pivoted adjacent the centre of one edge of the table top 15 and being braced by stays 44, 48, and the third leg 23 being pivoted centrally at the opposite edge of the table top so as to be foldable between the opposing legs. The stays 44 pivot in planes at right-angles to the table top and the stays 48 are collapsable. In the folded position, the legs 10, 11 lie obliquely against the table top. A bent member 33 connects the pivots of the legs 10, 11 so that the legs move together to and from the folded position. As shown, the legs support a container 16 suitable for carrying a portable picture projector. A cover 17 to enclose the folded legs is hinged to the container and, when opened out, is supported by a folding strut 21 to serve as a second table on shelf. The lid 66 of the container may be detached by disengaging its hinges and may then be inverted and placed on the top of the container for use as a tray. Specification 525,685 is referred to.
