Abstract

4648. Donegan, J. F., and Arnold, J. E. Feb. 24. Operating-tables.-An operating-table consists of four members 14, 15, 16, 19 hinged together, the member 14 being permanently fixed to a frame 1 supported by webs 3 fixed to an underframe 2. Between the frames 1, 2 is a drawer 23 which when pulled out supports the member 19 at any inclination by means of struts 40, 41 and a rack 42. The drawer 23 contains receptacles for dressings, hot water, &c. The lids of the receptacles are provided with handles which support the lids when inverted and enable them to be used as sterilizing-vessels. A receptacle 32 for hot water &c. is also provided at the other end of the table, and is provided with an opening at the bottom closed by a stopper. The members 15, 16 of the table are supported by links 44, 48 and, when necessary, by a link 53 pivoted at 52. To fold the table, the drawer 23 is pushed in and the member 19 folded over upon the members 15, 16. A catch (not shown) on the member 19 engages a stud 22 on the table frame and a depending lug 17 on the member 16 passes through an opening in the frame and is secured by a padlock &c. Folding legs may be provided consisting of two parts 5 hinged together at 6 and kept rigid by a sliding sleeve 7 and removable struts 9. When the sleeve 7 and struts 9 have been released, the legs can be folded as shown in dotted lines.
