Abstract
514,899. Two-part couplings. HAGUE & McKENZIE, Ltd., and GREEN, G. E. May 18, 1938, No. 14792. [Class 38 (i)] The heating element of a kettle, iron &c. has two windings 3, 4 both connected at one end to a contact pin 5 and at the other end connected respectively to the parts 1a, 1b of a longitudinally-divided pin 1. The co-operating sockets consist of a complete socket 6 and a segment 7 which may be opposed to an insulating block. If inserted in the position shown both windings are energized but if the sockets are reversed relatively to the pins only one winding is energized. The pin contacts and socket contacts may be interchanged in a modification.
