Abstract

409,811. Plug couplings. CALLENDER'S CABLE & CONSTRUCTION CO., Ltd., Hamilton House, Victoria Embankment, London, and BRYCE, S. J., Anchor Works, Leigh, Lancashire. Nov. 26, 1932, No. 33514. [Class 38 (i).] In a coupling member for an electric iron &c., connection between an earthed lead 18 in the cable and an external bent-spring earthing contact 11 is made through a conducting strip 5 carrying a terminal 6 for the earthed lead 18 and secured to a threaded pin 8, which serves at one end to attach the spring 11 and cooperates at its other end with a sleeve 14 to secure the two halves 1, 2 of the coupling member together. A second pin 16 secured to a bent extension of the strip 5 similarly engages with a second sleeve similar to 14. A switch 27 may be incorporated. The Provisional Specification refers to a modified construction in which the earthing contact comprises a metal sleeve surrounding the coupling member and provided with contact-making springy tongues.
