Abstract

336,372. Waite, R. T. Sept. 10, 1929. Plug couplings. - The plug member carries a quick-thread screw that enters a rotary cam 7 on the socket member, springs 8 acting on the cam to give a snap action on inserting and removing the plug. The interengaging screw members may be the earthing contacts, or the live contacts may be so formed. In the latter case the rotation of the sockets when inserting and removing the plug may connect and disconnect them from the supply leads. Alternatively, the cam 7 may carry an insulating disc with bridging contacts that connect the live sockets to the supply terminals when the plug is inserted. The sockets 9 shown in Fig. 1 are attached to the terminals 11 by shanks that allow slight movement of the sockets.
