Abstract

487,746. Two-part couplings. CINCH MANUFACTURING CORPORATION. Nov. 5. 1937, No. 30367. Convention date, Nov. 20, 1936. [Class 38 (i)] The two parts of a plug-and-socket coupling have sheet-metal shields 1, 2 that are connected together by a sheet-metal ring 6 that also completes the continuity of the earthing connection through the shields 1, 2 and the screening of the coupling. Each of the shields 1, 2 has projections 4, 5 on its rim and the ring 6 has embossed therein a T-shaped recess 20 into which the projections 4, 5 enter so that on turning the ring the projections pass into the part 23 of the recess and are retained therein by shoulders 24. The contacts 11, 13 are mounted on insulating plates 8, 9, 15, 16 that are secured in the shields 1, 2 by lugs on the rim bent in to contact with the plates. Two of the pins may be larger than the others to ensure correct coupling and a guide disc 18 may be fixed within the circle of sockets.
