[Class 82 (i)] [Also in Group XXII] A cutter or scraper for use in the manufacture of leather has a body portion which comprises a steel alloy containing 0.3 per cent. of carbon, 0.2 per cent. of chromium, 0.5 per cent. of molybdenum, and 0.2 per cent. of vanadium, such an alloy being non-airhardening. A strip serving as the cutting edge comprises a steel alloy containing 1.4-2.5 per cent. of carbon, 12-18 per cent. of chromium, and 0.5-1 per cent. each of molybdenum, vanadium, and nickel. The alloy may also contain 0.5-4 per cent. of cobalt. When intended to be air-hardened the alloy contains about 1.35-1.75 per cent. of carbon, and when to be quenched in oil about 1.90-2.45 per cent. of carbon with 12-14 per cent. of chromium.
