[Class 20 (iii)] A metal door body or window sash comprises front and rear sheet-metal frames 1, held in spaced relation by edge members 2, also of sheet metal, formed at the ends of bent-over limbs 2a with lip portion 2b, which latter are engaged within correspondingly shaped portions lc of the frame members 1 by being pressed or slid into position. In 'the door body shown in Fig. 1, seatings 1d are formed in the frame members 1 for the reception of flush panels 3 of heat and/or sound-proof material, such as plaster board, the panels and the sides of the frames being covered by thin metal sheets 4, the edges of which, 4a,are bent over and engaged between the members 1, 2. In order to prevent " drumming," the metal' sheets 4 may be caused to adhere to the panels 3 by the use, for example, of an asphaltic cement. In the construction according to Fig. 2, the inner edges of the frames 7 are secured by a member 8, formed at the middle with a bulbous portion 8c, which in conjunction with detachable members 9 forms a seating for an insulating or glass panel 3, which in the former case may be covered by thin metal sheets 4. By combining the above described construction, a flush door may be provided with a window portion.
