Abstract
512,083. Electric incandescent lamps. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN. June 9, 1938, No. 17179. Convention date, June 12, 1937. [Class 39 (ii)] Deposit collectors. - In a gasfilled lamp with an operating gaseous pressure exceeding 5 atmospheres and a bulb having an internal diameter not exceeding 15 m.m., blackening of the bulb due to vaporisation of the filament is prevented by providing above the filament 3 a chimney 2, with means such as glass, or quartz-wool 7, or a helical coil of wire, positioned in the space 5 between the outer wall of the chimney and the inside wall of the bulb to retard the movement of the gas stream produced by the chimney. The chimney 2 consists of a tube of quartz glass and may have a slightly conical shape. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes also modifications wherein:- (1) the retarding means around the chimney is omitted, (2) the chimney is formed by the inner wall of a wire helix which is arranged so as to be in contact with the inner wall of the bulb, (3) the chimney action may be produced by the filament itself, which is wound as a comparatively rigid coil. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
