511,150. Lamps employing different illuminants. ADIE, K. S. Feb. 11, 1938, No. 4271. [Class 75 (iv)] In an electric light fitting employing mercury discharge lamps in conjunction with gas-filled or metal filament lamps, a mercury discharge lamp is located centrally and above a group of three, four or more gas filled or metallic filament or like lamps, in which the light emitted is not lacking in red rays, arranged around the mercury discharge lamp and in combination with reflectors so disposed that the whole group of lamps lies, within the reflectors so that a large proportion of the rays from the mercury discharge lamp reach 'the reflectors after passing through the rays of the gas filled or metallic filament lamps. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the mercury discharge lamp 4 is surrounded by a group of three or five electric incandescent lamps 7, the entire group of lamps being enclosed in a reflector 8 consisting of two spherical portions 9, 10, and a truncated conical skirt 11. Fig. 4 shows a modification in which the discharge lamp 4 depends from the apex of a four-sided pyramidal reflector 12 each side of which carries one incandescent lamp 7, the mouth of the reflector being closed by a refracting or diffusing glass plate 13. The holders 6 for the lamps 7 may be so mounted that they are adjustable in relation to the central discharge lamp 4.
