Abstract

496,979. Lighting fittings. HOLOPHANE, Ltd., and ENGLISH, S. Nov. 10, 1937, Nos. 30866/37 and 642/38. [Classes 75 (ii) and 75 (iv)] In lighting fittings as shown refractors with prismatic ribs parallel to an elongated light source 1, refract the light into downward and upward beams, the latter being then reflected down. Plates 7 seated against flanges 6 in refractors 2 keep them free from dust. 11 is a heat conserving enclosure. The reflectors may be of metal, or plane and adjustable about an axis 38, the cylindrical refractor in two parts joined by a metal band 14, and the light source an electric discharge lamp or row of gas mantles.
