509,289. Plate heat - exchangers. AKTIEBOLAGET ROSENBLADS PATENTER. Nov. 29, 1938, No. 34697. Convention date, Nov. 30, 1937. [Class 64 (iii)] A plate heatexchanger comprises superposed discs formed with spiral &c. fluid grooves 2, 3 in the opposite faces thereof, the open sides of the grooves in each disc being closed by adjacent discs. The fluids may pass through their respective grooves in adjacent discs either in series or parallel, or even in series-parallel. Thus, one fluid entering the apparatus through the port 20 in the lower-cover plate passes in parallel through its grooves in the two lower discs, and thence in series through those in the two upper discs to the outlet port 22 in the upper cover plate. The other flows in countercurrent to the first fluid from a port 30 in the upper cover plate to an outlet port 33 in the lower one. In a modification, the plates are formed with rectilinear grooves, and the fluids flow through laterally displaced grooves in adjacent discs.
