Abstract
492,241. Heat-exchangers. BENTELI, A. Feb. 12, 1938, No. 4445. Convention date, Feb. 25, 1937. [Class 64 (iii)] A plate heat-exchanger unit for sterilizing or pasteurizing consists of a number of metallic foils 1 wound spirally to form passages for the liquid, and provided with insulating layers 4. The liquid enters the tube 6, Fig. 1, and on reaching a heating or cooling element 5 flows in countercurrent to the exit 7, being cooled again (or heated) by the inflowing stream. In a modification, two fluids flow in countercurrent separated by foils 3, Fig. 2, one fluid enters at 10 and leaves at 11, and the other enters at 6 and leaves at 9. Further modifications provide spiral partitions in the fluid passages, and means for rotating the apparatus.
