Abstract
901,952. Plate type heat exchangers. ROSENBLADS PATENTER AB. Feb. 23, 1961 [Feb. 29, 1960], No. 6595/61. Class 64 (3). A heat exchanger consists of a stack of identical plates, each plate being pressed as shown in Fig. 5 to provide in both surfaces a number of regularly spaced depressions or dimples 7 and to form corresponding bosses 8 on the opposite surfaces. The plates are assembled face-to-face to form spaces 5, 6 therebetween for the passage of the heat exchange fluids, alternate plates being reversed so that in the spaces 5 the tops of the bosses of the facing plates abut on each other and are spot-welded at 10 whereas in the spaces 6 the bosses of one plate are in spaced registering relationship with the dimples on the facing plate. This arrangement allows the heat exchanger to be used for the treatment of liquids containing, for example, sludge or fibrous material, since such liquids can flow through the comparatively unrestricted spaces 6 whilst steam &c. flows through the spaces 5.
