Abstract

509,238. Lubricating systems. MUIR, N. S. Oct. 12, 1937, No. 27646. [Class 12 (iii)] [Also in Group XIII] The lubricating oil of an engine driving a vehicle or aircraft is heated by circulating it through a rotary heater, which consists of discs, vanes or the like rotatably mounted in a casing having inlet and outlet passages. Oil is circulated by a pump 15 from a tank 17 through a rotary heater 11 and back to the tank, from which the heated oil is run into the engine. Valves 22, 23, may be opened to allow the pump and heater to. be connected directly to the engine through pipes 20, 21. The flow and return pipes 20, 21, may have a number of branch lines for connection to aircraft engines at a number of stations in an aerodrome.
