Abstract
389,759. Centrifugal pumps. HOLDEN & BROOKE, Ltd. and BROOKE, R. W., Sirius Works, West Gorton, Manchester. Oct. 10, 1932, No. 28185. Addition to 377,229. [Class 110 (i).] In a hot-water heating system wherein a circulating-pump 1 is used in a byepass across a non-return valve 9 communicating with the hot-water pipe, the pump is automatically isolated when not in use by independently movable valves 5, 9 in the inlet and outlet respectively. When the pump is idle the outlet valve 9 seats against the port 8 by the action of a spring 12. Insufficient difference in pressure at opposite sides of the valve 5 ensures the latter remaining open. The pump is completely isolated by manual closing of the valve 5.
