Abstract
679,160. Hot - water supply systems. AKTIEBOLAGET GUSTAVSBERGS FABRIKER. April 28, 1950, No. 10513/50. Class 64(i) In a hot-water supply system in which water is heated in a heat-exchanger 8 by hot water drawn from a boiler 3 and passed through the heat-exchanger and back to the boiler by a pump 4 in either the flow line 13 from (as shown) or the return line 7 to the boiler 3, the hot and cold ends of a hot-water storage tank 2 are connected to the flow and return lines 13, 7 respectively, the connection of one of them being to the delivery and suction sides of the pump 4 by a three-way valve 5 actuated by a temperature-responsive device 11 controlled by the temperature of either the heating or the heated water leaving the heat-exchanger, so that the tank is connected to the delivery or suction side of the pump when the said temperature is respectively above or below a certain temperature or temperature range. Thus the tank 2 is charged with hot water when the flow of water for consumption is low and discharges it when the flow for consumption is high. A byepass pipe 12 is provided. Hand-operated valves 17, 18, 19, 20 control the amount of flow through the various pipes. The tank 2 can be replaced by two or more tanks in series and/or parallel. The boiler 3 heats the water circulating through it to a constant temperature.
