442,533. Heating by circulation of fluids. FARRER, J. O., 27, Chancery Lane, London, and KOCH, E. A. J., 64, Victoria Street, Westminster. Aug. 8, 1934, No. 22989. [Class 64 (ii)] A liquid heating system having a circulating pump 5 and consumers 4 disposed across the flow and return pipes 2, 3 respectively is provided with a byepass, the flow through which is regulated by a valve 7 controlled by a thermostat 8 which permits flow through the valve when the temperature falls below a predetermined value. The valve may also be controlled by the temperature or, where the pressure is a measure of the temperature, by the pressure in the generator to stop the flow through the byepass when the temperature in the generator falls below a desired point. In a modification, in which the valve 8, Fig. 2, is also controlled by a thermostat 13 in the flow pipe, a byepass having a pump 10 and a valve 11 controlled by a thermostat 12, is provided for returning liquid from the return pipe to the flow pipe to maintain a constant temperature in the latter pipe. In another arrangement, byepasses having thermostatically-controlled valves are provided between the branch supply and discharge pipes of each of the consumers.
