[Glass 64 (ii)] In a liquid heating system in which no part of the circuit is open to the atmosphere and in which the pipes are maintained full of liquid at a pressure above that at which the liquid would evaporate at atmospheric pressure means is provided for reducing the supply of liquid to either the whole or a part of the system when the temperature and therefore the pressure in the flow pipe falls below a predetermined value. In one system, the speed of the circulating pump 3 supplying the consumers 5 is controlled by regulating the rheostat 19 of the pump-motor 18 by a thermostat 20 in the flow pipe. Cold liquid from the return pipe may be admitted to the flow pipe to maintain the temperature therein constant through a valve 16 controlled by a thermostat 17. In another system, pressure-reducing cut-off valves may be provided in the branch pipes from the flow pipe to reduce the supply to individual consumers connected in parallel between the flow and the return pipes. This latter system may include a consumer consisting of a water storage tank in which the temperature is maintained constant by a thermostat which controls the supply of water thereto.
