Abstract
880,093. Heat pumps; hot-water supply systems. PORTER & CO. (SALFORD) Ltd., T. Sept. 11, 1958 [Sept. 17, 1957], No. 29169/57. Classes 29 and 64(1) The upper and lower parts of a hot-water storage tank 5 are heated by the compressor 2 and condenser 6 of a refrigerating system, a flow of cold water past the condenser being provided by entry and waste pipes 10, 11, the latter containing a control valve 12 which is closed when evaporator 3 attains a pre-determined low temperature. A valve 14 in pipe 11 is automatically closed if the pressure head of the water falls so much that draw-off taps 17 are not supplied. An auxiliary immersion heater 16 is provided and the tank 5 and evaporator 3 are located in a common casing 1. According to the Provisional Specification, valve 14 is closed if the current to the compressor motor is interrupted.
