Abstract
506,602. Inductances. HAZELTINE CORPORATION. Jan. 28, 1938, No. 2703. Convention date, Feb. 16, 1937. [Class 38 (ii)] A variable inductance for tuning highfrequency circuits over a wide frequency band comprises a conductive shield 44 movable in relation to the winding 41 on a former 42, the co-operating surfaces of either shield or winding or both being tapered. The shield is arranged to move in an arcuate path hy being mounted on an arm 48 secured to a rotatable shaft 46 which may serve for ganging a plurality of inductances employed in various stages of a wireless receiver. The winding is provided with an iron dust core 50 which may be adjustable by means of a screwed rod 50a for adjusting the maximum value of the inductance. Alternatively, an adjustable stop limiting movement of the shield into its close coupling relationship with the winding may be provided for this purpose.
