Abstract

500,943. Cathode-ray tubes. MICHAELIS, E. Aug. 17, 1937, Nb. 1112/39. Convention date, Aug. 28, 1936. Divided out of 491,050. [Class 39 (i)] The cathode consists of an insulating-tube G in which the heating filament C is longitudinally arranged, and the tube is surrounded by a metal tube D having one flat side B, which faces the screen and is coated with emissive oxide. In other forms, the insulating tube, which may consist of porcelain or quartz, may have a flat side corresponding to the side B of the metal tube, or both tubes G, D may be of triangular cross-section. All the sides of a triangular metal tube may be coated with emissive oxide, and the electrons from the sides remote from the screen may be deflected by suitable plates to join the main stream, or may impinge upon surfaces to release secondary electrons which join the main electron stream.
