Abstract

, 500,660. Hose pipes. VOIGT, C. A. Oct. 13, 1937, No. 27789. Convention date, Oct. 13, 1936. [Class 99 (ii)] . [Also in Group XIII] A thermally-actuated valve 7 controlling the water circulation in an engine cooling system is supported in a metal ring 4 of H-section vulcanized in the rubber hose pipe 1 connecting the engine with the radiator in the usual way, so that the valve is not displaced by distortion or undue stretching of the hose connection. Preferably, the hose is stiffened by metal rings 2, 3 vulcanized therein on either side of the valve. The hose may have direction marks 8 to ensure assembly with a flow port 6 in the ring 4 at the top. The valve ring may be located in an enlargement of the hose to provide full bore flow when the valve is open. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also the following : Clamping rings 15, Figs. 7 and 9 (Cancelled), for securing the ends of the hose to the tubular projections of the engine and radiator may be wholly embedded in and vulcanized in the hose, or may be located outside the hose with one end secured thereto and the other end free, or the clamp may be formed of two arcuate arms partly vulcanized in the hose wall. This subject.matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
