500,261. Arc lamps. KORTING & MATHIESON AKT.-GES. Aug. 4, 1937, No. 21534. Convention date, Aug. 7, 1936. [Class 39 (i)] In an arc lamp the electrodes of which are fed by one or more motors in parallel with the arc, one of which is controlled for changes of voltage in the arc by a relay connected across the are and the motor, means are provided for regulating the action of the relay to suit carbons of different sizes, the terminal voltage across at least one of the motors being at the same time kept constant. In the arrangement shown the motor 9 is controlled by the relay 4 and feeds the electrode 1 and the motor 6 feeds the electrode 2 at a constant rate. To allow for the use of carbons of different sizes resistances 5, 7 are provided in the circuit of the relay 4 and the motor 6 respectively and regulated by arms 8, 81 connected together. The relation of the arms 8, 8<1> can be adjusted initially to compensate for differences in the motors.
