Abstract
448,296. Arc converters. ALLGEMEINE ELEKTRICITATS-GES., 2, Friedrich Karl- Ufer, Berlin. May 16, 1935, No. 14423. Convention date, May 17, 1934. [Class 39 (i)] An arc converter comprises one or more auxiliary electrodes 3, 4, which are insulated from, and screen electrostatically, the main electrodes 1, 2, and means are provided for impressing on the auxiliary electrodes potentials which are insufficient to disrupt the arc gap but facilitate ignition or extinction of the arc or prevent back-ignition. Control potentials may be applied periodically to the auxiliary electrodes. A starting electrode 5 is provided. Specification 429,060 is referred to.
