[Class 74 (ii)] A circular machine is provided with two feeders 18, 60 movable from normal . plating to reverse plating positions and to a third pair of positions to produce normal plating during reciprocatory knitting. Means are provided for moving the feeders selectively into any of the three pairs of feeding positions, and for adjusting the position of each of the feeders when they are in reverse plating position without affecting its position during normal plating. The invention is described in connection with a superposed cylinder machine in which one feeder 18 is carried by an elbow lever 20 mounted upon an arm 26 which is swung to change the position of the feeder from normal to reverse plating by a bar 32 and lever 34 as described in Specifications 247,334, and 269,230, [both in Class 74 (ii)]. When the feeder 18 has been moved to reverse position, the arm 22 of the lever 20 engages a bar 42 and the lever is turned about its pivot 22 against spring resistance to raise the feeder. Adjustment of the bar 42 determines the amount of the movement of the feeder 18. The feeder 60 is secured to a lever 62 pivoted in a block 66. The block 66 is mounted upon a rod 68 carried by a post 70. Movement of the feeder 60 to reverse plating position is obtained by the engagement of a roller 80 on the lever 62 with a cam 82. Adjustment of the feeder 60 in its reverse plating position is effected by varying the amount or directon of the movement which the cam 82 gives to the 'roller 80. Either the position or direction of movement of the cam 82 is varied, or alternatively the roller 80 with its supporting lever 62 is swung about the yarn issuing end of the feeder 60 when the feeder is in normal plating position. A latch retarder 100 serves to prevent sudden closing of the needle latches and is attached to a lever 102 pivoted on a block 104 fixed to the upper cam box.
