Abstract
497,213. Centrifugal fans. WILLIAMS, F. C. March 13, 1937, No. 7443. [Class 110 (i)] A fan impeller is built up of two wheel members B, one or both of which have impeller vanes 3, and a series of separate fan blades D directly engaging the members B at each end and bound together axially by the shaft A. The members B have hubs 1 keyed at 12, 13 to the shaft, and one or two intermediate hubs C are also keyed at 11 to the shafts. The blades D are secured to flanges 5 of the hubs C by pins, screwed studs, or dovetail projections. The blades D engage the members B by arcuate projections 9 and grooves, or by pins which may be riveted or welded. The key 13 is retained by a plate 14 or a collar. The blades may have clearance with the wheel members to permit axial and radial expansion of the blades and eliminate distortion.
