Abstract

496,572. Ironing presses. CHERRY TREE MACHINE CO., Ltd., and DOWELL, G. June 1, 1937, No. 15152. [Class 138 (ii)] Relates to a twohanded control for operating the spindle g<1> of the valve g admitting fluid-pressure through a pipe k to the press operating cylinder. One manual is in the form of a bell-crank lever a loosely mounted on a shaft c, one of the arms being provided with a T-shaped slot d, e in which a pin b projecting from a link g<2> engages. The link is connected to the valve spindle and another link c<2> connects it to an arm c<1> on the shaft c to which the other manual, not shown, is secured. If only the second manual is depressed, the pin b rises in the portion e of the T -slot; if only the manual a is depressed, the slot d travels over the pin h and in neither case is the valve spindle operated. For opening another press on depression of the manual a of the first press, there is provided a link i between the manual a and a lever i<1> operating the other press. A locking device for holding the spindle g<1> in open position comprises a bell-crank lever o connected to the link g<2> through a pin-and-slot connection and to a spring or piston and cylinder mechanism q.
