To efl'ect closure of the valve 2 and opening of the valve 3 to permit return movement of the buck, a lever 13 which may be controlled by the foot of the operator is depressed, said lever being" operatively connected to the Whipple tree 4 through the medium of a link 14 and a bell- crank lever 15, 16 fulcrumed at 17 the arm 16 of the lever 15, 16 being bifurcated for engagement with the Whipple tree On depression of the lever translatory movement is imparted to the Whipple tree in the direction to close the inlet and open the exhaust.
