Abstract
461,307. Ironing-presses. SINGISER, J. P. March 25, 1936, No. 8908. [Class 138 (ii)] An ironing-press is operated in two stages by two separate fluid-pressure motors, each under the control of the operator. The first motor 27 swings the head 19 into light pressure contact with the resiliently mounted buck 11 through the toggle linkage 22, 23 which is biassed by a spring 24 and also by a snubber 25 into broken position but is maintained in the position shown by the pressure existing between the contacting press members. Admission of fluid pressure to the motor 27 is controlled by the manuals 38, 42. The buck is forced into greater pressure engagement with the heat by the stem 13 and bell-crank 16 operated by the second motor 14, access of fluid-pressure to which is controlled by a manual 50 positioned immediately beneath the manual 38. On swing- ing the manual 50 counterclockwise, the valve 46 from the supply line 30 to the cylinder 14 is opened and the manual is latched until it is operated in the reverse direction either manually or by the diaphragm motor 56 operated from a release manual 64b positioned beneath the manual 42b of an adjacent press B. The manual 64 of the press A similarly releases the manual 50b of the press B.
