386,485. Nailing. TRIGGS, W. W., 57, Lincoln's Inn Fields, London.-(Kathreiner Ges. ; 75D, Potsdamer Strasse, Berlin.) April 6, 1932, No. 9870. [Class 89 (iii).] In a nailing device operated by compressed air, the air is admitted to a cylinder 1 by means of a valve 4 and trigger 5. It first drives down a piston 2 carrying a driver 8, and then passes out by a passage-way 24a to operate a nail separator. This comprises a cylinder 24 in which a piston 25 is movable to operate, through a bell-crank lever 26, a slide member 20 which acts to separate a single nail from a raceway 18 and transfer it to a passage-way 23 leading to the driver passage 7. Air below the piston 2 can escape by apertures 11 shrouded by a perforated sleeve 12, and apertures 1a above the piston are closed, during the working stroke of the piston 2, by surfaces 5a on the trigger 5. A buffer 9 relieves the cylinder 1 from shock. The lower part of the device is rotatable with respect to the cylinder. Communication between the cylinder and the passage-way 24a is maintained by an annular passage 28. A member 15, Fig. 7, secured to the driver passage 7 assists in locating the device correctly on a work-piece 33. A recess 40 accommodates projecting parts of the work-piece. The raceway 18, which is supplied by a second raceway with or without an oscillating nail box, can be rocked aside to allow access to the driver passage 7.
