Abstract
641,108. Cutting-out presses. FREEMAN CO., L. G. Oct. 3, 1947, No. 26716. Convention date, Oct. 23, 1946. [Class 31 (i)] [Also in Group XVI] A machine for embossing or cutting-out articles such as parts of boots and shoes as described in Specifications 527,069 and 641,098 in which a die carrier 3 is moved into operative position by mechanism controlled by an electromagnetic clutch, and the work is raised by a plunger 2 under control of a clutch having latches 8, 9 for stopping the drive-shaft 5 at the end of one revolution, or at the end of half a revolution when it is required to perform a hot embossing or like operation, is constructed with brake mechanism which can be set to act at the end of one revolution, or at the end of half revolutions. The brake 26 is a handbrake having an operating arm 27 which is actuated to apply the brake, each time the plunger 2 returns to its position of rest, by an adjustable stop 29 on an abutment 28 carried by the plunger. By adjusting an arm 34, relatively to the arm 27 a rod 32 connected to the arm 34 can be set so as to be depressed or not by a lever 36 which is operated by the abutment 28 on its ascent. If operated the shaft 5 is declutched at the end of half a revolution by the latch 9 due to the depression of a trip link 25 by means of a slotted lever 38, which is moved clockwise by a lever arm 41, link 40 and an arm on the shaft 37 of lever 38, by the setting action of the arm 34. If the lever 36 does not engage the arm 32 the machine is stopped only at the end of'a full revolution.
