Abstract
495,810. Spray burners. KILBURN, B. E. D. (Sulzer FrÞres Soc. Anon.) May 21, 1937, No. 14245. [Class 75 (i)] The viscous fuel discharged through the burner nozzle opening 13 is regulated by a control member 10 which is displaced by the pressure of the fuel against the resistance of a spring 25. The member 10 is formed with a number of helical passages 11 decreasing in cross-section area towards and terminating at different distances from its upper face so that the passages are successively opened or closed as the member moves in its housing 19. The spring 25 presses on a thrust plate 24 connected by a ball joint 23 to a sleeve 21 which is itself connected by a ball joint 20 to a piston 18 carrying the member 10. The passages 11 may alternatively be formed in the wall of the bore 9 in the housing 19.
