Abstract

736,264. Fuel-injectors. DAIMLER-BENZ AKT.-GES. Sept. 2, 1953 [Sept. 4, 1952], No. 24278/53. Class 7(3). [Also in Group XI] A fuel-injection nozzle of the kind having a valve 18, opening in the direction of flow of the fuel, provided with a plug-like extension 22 disposed with small clearance in a bore 21 in the delivery tip 13, which clearance forms an annular throttling gap 23 through which the fuel forced past the valve 18 flows before being discharged through the bore 21, is characterised by smallbore ducts 24 extending in the member 13 from the valve chamber 19 tangentially into the annular gap 23 whereby the flow of fuel through the gap is augmented and caused to swirl by the flow through the ducts 24. The size of the gap 23 may vary between 0À01 mm. and 0À033 mm. The valve 18 is urged to its seat 17 by a spring and guided by an enlarged part of its stem 14 sliding in a guide member 12, fuel flow grooves 16 being formed in the enlarged part of the stem.
