Class 7(3) In a fuel injector wherein the valve 2 seats on a seat 12<SP>1</SP> for med in a separate atomizer body 4 which is held agains the valve guide 1 an( is surrounded by a cooling sleeve ! which defines with the body 4 a cooling chamber 9, the valve seat 12' is formed at a level below the junction between the body 4 and guide 1 so that the passage 13 leading from the valve seat to the injection orifices 14 is shorter than the length of the body 4. The cooling medium is supplied through a passage 10 and the chamber 9 may be formed in the sleeve 5, or in the outer surface of the body 4 in contact with the member 5, or partly in the body 4 and partly in the member 5. The valve seat 12' is preferably arranged at the same level as the chamber. 9. Specification 545,633 is referred to.
