Abstract

746,785. Fuel injectors. SIMMS MOTOR UNITS. Ltd. Oct. 13 1954 [Oct. 13, 1953], No. 28193/53. Class 7(3) A fuel injector comprises a stationary needle valve 2 co-cperat ing with a spring. loaded nozzle member 3 which is moved down. wardly off the valve by the fue: pressure during injection The fuel passes down a passage 9 in the valve 2 and through orifices 10 into an annular passage surrounding the valve 2, leakage along the valve being prevented by a sealing ring 22 seated in recesses 20, 21 in the valve and valve body. Passages 14 transmit the fuel pressure to the inner surface of the ring 22 to force it against its confining surface.
