Abstract

494,651. Electron tuning indicators; luminescent materials. ROGERS RADIO TUBES, Ltd. March 29, 1938, No. 9553. Convention date, June 22, 1937. [Class 39 (i)] [Also in Group XX] In an electron voltage or tuning indicator the target 17, which is bombarded by electrons from a target cathode 18 under control of vanes 23, has a layer of fluorescing material on soot ; the soot is formed on a nickel base by an acetylene flame and acts as the bedding medium for willemite which is sprayed on. A light shield 19 of carbonized nickel is placed so that the cathode is not visible through the transparent upper part of the envelope used for viewing the target. The control vanes are connected to the rods 11, 12, which support a triode, through ceramic plates held in place by metal locking bars 7, 8 ; a strap 25 connects the rods 12 to the triode anode 6, the rods 11 and 12 being connected together. A common heater is used for the two cathodes 18, 4. Mica plates 9, 10 on standards 13, 14 separate the triode and target sections of the envelope, the target being carried by a plate 15 from the standards 13, 14. A mica centring disc 16 for the electrodes engages the envelope wall.
